Bastimentos Boat Races

Popa Paradise Beach Resort is a proud supporter of the Bastimentos Boat Races. Â Held every year on the last weekend of March, this is the third annual event. Â Locals and Expats come from all over Panama to compete and enjoy the festivities.
Bastimentos is one of the five largest islands in the Bocas del Toro archipelago. Â The races are held just off the dock of the town of Old Bank, or Bastimentos town. Â There are several races and events that last over 2 days. Â Local vendors sell food, beverages and handicrafts. Â Race events include paddle cayucos, paddle surfboards, panganitas and pangas with 25hp, 40hp, 60hp & 75hp motors.
Last year, Popa’s very own boat Captain, Tavo Valencia won the panga 40hp race with his own boat. Â He’ll be competing again this year to retain his title.
